Herbs for My Dog – Purslane

Purslane is a nutrient dense plant that grows as a weed in many places.  I don’t have any growing near me, so I purchased a seed packet and am going to plant some in containers on my deck.

Purslane is high in Omega-3 fatty acids (ALA), which is rare in leafy greens, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, and antioxidants like betalains and glutathione.

For myself, I love adding purslane to sandwiches.  But for my dog, I like chopping it up and mixing it into his weekly puploaf.  I add this, along with hemp protein, for a nutritional boost to his meals.
